Un eolipile (o eolipyle, o eolipile), también conocido como motor de héroe, es una turbina de vapor radial simple, sin aspas, que gira cuando se calienta el recipiente central de agua. Es la primera máquina de vapor, una turbina de reacción de chorro de vapor radial, un invento atribuido a Héroe de Alejandría en algún momento entre el 10 y el 70 d.C.
El agua dentro del recipiente esférico se calienta para producir vapor que sale a través de boquillas dirigidas en ángulo recto con la dirección radial y, según la tercera ley de Newton, el vapor expulsado por estos chorros produce un par alrededor del eje de rotación.
