History: This RB engine is an ultra-square 2.0–3.0 L inline-six-cylinder four-valve gasoline engine, originally produced from 1985 to 2004. Following the 1983 VG Series V6 engine, the RB is available in a complete, modern in-line or V-engine layout. The RB engine family includes single overhead camshaft (SOHC) and double overhead camshaft (DOHC) engines. The RB26DETT engine was a 2.6 L (2,568 cc) inline-six for the 1989-2002 Skyline GT-R, each cylinder containing a DOHC 4-valve (24-valve total) setup, which had 6 independent (3 groups of 2 conjoined throttle assemblies) instead of a single throttle body. The engine also features a parallel twin-turbo system.

.Race Achievements: Originally, the R32 GT-R was scheduled to be equipped with a 2.4L RB24DETT and compete in the 4000 cc class (in Group A rules, displacement multiplied by 1.7 if the engine was turbocharged) at the time Nismo was designing the R32 GT-R as a Group A car. But when engineers added an all-wheel drive system, they found that it made the car heavier than expected, and so much less competitive Nismo decided to revamp the engine to a 2.6L twin-turbo engine and compete in the higher 4500 cc class, resulting in the RB26DETT as it is known today. At the 1990 Oriental Vision Macao, the R32 beat A number of European competitors, including the BMW M3, with a maximum horsepower of 650 ps. In addition to the Oriental Vision, the R32 also competed in Group A touring cars in Europe and 24 HEURES DU MANS and so on, in these cars are European and American sports cars such as the Carrera RS, Sierra RS500 let the R32 kill a piece of the left, in the famous green hell of the New Berlin circuit R32 more ran out of 8 minutes 22.38 lap results, very amazing, but like Honda's F1 engine, because too good to restrain the European car manufacturers, so the FIA and the main board units of each event have begun to make unfair treatment to R32,199 One year later, the organizers of the Toyoko event required the R32 to compete against the DTM cars, and the R32 had to carry 140 kg to compete, in such a bizarre event regulations, the BMW M3 finally won the first place, while the R32 only finished fourth In Europe as well, the FIA continued to revise the regulations of the Group A touring car race, and finally stopped it altogether.
.RB26DETT Used in the following vehicles:
Nissan Skyline GT-R BNR32
Nissan Skyline GT-R BCNR33
Nissan Skyline GT-R Autech Version 40th Anniversary BCNR33 (Autech factory installs RB26DETT and AWD 5spd gearboxes in the R5 sedan chassis
Nissan Skyline GT-R BNR34
Nissan Stagea 260RS WGNC34 Modification (with RS4 chassis)
Tommykaira ZZII (Concept Car)
.Evaluation: Praised by foreign media as the engine of the bloody European car factory! RB26DETT, the strongest partner of the R32. If it is said to be the most representative engine, no one will disagree, it is the representative of the Japanese name machine at that time, it and Honda F1's engines are also treated unfairly by the FIA because they are too powerful to dominate European rivals, which shows how awesome the RB26DETT is! In the Ares family, the RB26DETT is powered by the R32,R33 and R34, with the exception of the R35. Although this engine is no longer on the market, it brings us good memories.
